2025 Highlights from the Global Center Director
Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Supporters,
Please take some time out of your day to read through our annual newsletter. In 2025, through extensive collaborations across IU and the United States, we were able to support global learning for all initiatives at multiple levels. The staff of the Center for the Study of Global Change expanded student learning and opportunities across IU, advanced global workforce initiatives, produced public scholarship, and supported educators working with students of all grades, from Kindergarten to graduate education. What’s included this year is just a taste of what our team has implemented and supported. We stay steadfast in our mission to partner with educators to create experiences that help students develop self and global awareness, build and practice skills for a global society, and foster global and cross-cultural engagement.
This year was not without its challenges, however. In September, we learned that federal funding for our National Resource Center and Foreign Language and Area Studies awards was terminated. This funding was eliminated for all programs at IU and across the country that had the same award types. This decision has had a profound impact on our programming and ability to support students. With many challenges like this, there are opportunities that emerge. We have doubled down on our most strategic initiatives and continue to make an impact across IU and the state. Thank you to our steadfast collaborators, generous donors, and friends for helping us move forward. And thank you to our emerging partners and new colleagues; we look forward to building out sustainable programs for long-term impacts.
