Global Workforce Initiatives for Educators
In 2025, the Indiana University Global Employability Project continued to collaborate with Indiana and nationwide educators to coordinate professional development workshops that address global workforce priorities.
In June, the Center for the Study of Global Change with support from the IU Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) and the area studies centers in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies worked with the global nonprofit Digital Promise and theAssociation of Community College Trustees to equip Community College instructors with the skills they need to train the next generation of the workforce in global competency. The series of virtual events, titled “Preparing Community College Students for a Global Economy,” guided educators from Jefferson Community and Technical College in Kentucky and Harper College in Illinois in developing new course materials for courses in career and technical education fields. Fifteen faculty members from nine disciplines, including health sciences, manufacturing, and hospitality, participated.
In July, the IU Global Employability Project collaborated with Christi McBride of McBride Education Consulting, (and the previous director of Bloomington’s Hoosier Hills Career Center), to present two webinars for Indiana educators to engage with detailed information and templates for classroom resources that adapt well to the new Indiana High School diploma.
We ended the year with two new exciting developments. Linda Mann and Eli Konwest were selected to present at the inaugural IU Economic Development Summit. They shared with attendees how 243 high school and community college educators have participated in Global Employability professional development workshops since the project’s inception in 2019. In December, we received the exciting news that the Center for the Study of Global Change received a philanthropic gift to continue our Global Workforce programming in the upcoming year.
