International Studies in Schools (ISS) is an innovative and award-winning distance-learning program. It uses interactive video technology to connect K-12 schools and community groups across the U.S. with Indiana University international students, scholars, and specialists. With no expensive travel abroad needed, the world is brought right into the classroom. IU’s Office of International Programs and its School of Education's Center for Research on Learning and Teaching created this program in 1995. Today the Global Center runs the program in cooperation with world area studies centers across the IUB campus through the International Outreach Council.
