The purpose of this institute is to promote the creation of new, high quality community-engaged learning courses with a global learning focus. This Institute will prepare educators to teach community-engaged courses with global/international perspectives, whether conducting their service domestically or abroad. To be eligible, instructors must:
1. Be able to participate in all three stages of the institute (in-person institute, independent course development with support, and virtual presentations of course syllabi);
2. Be a full-time IU faculty (tenure and non-tenure track) member at any of the IU campuses;
3. Have a commitment from their Department Chair to offer the course through that department once during the 2023-2024 or 2024-2025 academic years, and twice between the years 2024 and 2029. A letter stating this commitment is one of the required materials for this application.
4. Submit an essay describing the course you would like to develop through the institute. Your essay must include a statement of your commitment to participate in all stages of the institute. *If this is a revision to an existing course, please provide the syllabus.
