Attendees at the statewide summit of the Indiana Language Roadmap discussed next steps in strengthening world language learning and cross-cultural competencies to advance the education, economy, and health of Indiana. The afternoon event included a sit-down lunch, a Global Workforce panel, and working sessions on implementation.
The Global Workforce panel featured Elaine Bedel (President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation), Danny Lopez (Chair of the Governor’s Workforce Cabinet), Marsha Stone (Senior Director of Commercial Enterprise for the Indianapolis Airport Authority), and Marina Hadjioannou Waters (President of Luna Language Services).

Summit Description:
Representatives from business, education, healthcare, law, social services, and the community gathered in Indianapolis to discuss the recommendations of the Indiana Language Roadmap plan to strengthen cross-cultural competencies and world language learning and to plan implementation strategies in alignment with priorities in communities around the state. The Indiana Language Roadmap plan will be made publicly available to all stakeholders, and the summit’s discussions will guide a series of implementation meetings across the state in 2019. Through conversation and collaboration, this initiative will diversify and enhance opportunities, expand resources, and increase access and equity to advance the education, economy, and health of Indiana.
